Ellis Trowbridge

Boxing

Ellis has always had an interest in boxing from an early age, but it wasn’t until he turned 16 years of age that he decided to attend his first boxing session. Initially, he had no intention of competing; instead, he wanted to use it to improve his fitness and strength for football, which was then his main sport. However, this quickly turned into a fierce passion, and before he knew it, he had caught the “boxing bug”!

Ellis has won two senior elite national titles (ABA’s), two Haringey Box Cup titles, one international title (Eindhoven Box Cup), and most recently became a member of Team GB since his first competitive fight in November of 2018. His first ABA championship would rank among his most significant victories because he trained for this fight in his converted garage during the pandemic and did not let the COVID 19 restrictions stop him with vital preparations.

As Ellis progresses as a member of Team GB, he aspires to win as many medals as possible. His biggest goals consist of winning golds at the Olympics, World Championships, Europeans, and The Commonwealth Games. He looks forward to gaining as much international experience as he can before turning over to the professional ranks.

Ellis would like to provide greater opportunities for underprivileged children to develop life skills through boxing. He has visited his local Primary School to share his inspiring story and this is something he would like to continue to do on a larger scale. Also, his mother has been a foster carer for the past seven years and this has really inspired him to help the next generation through his passion of sport.
