Hassan Esufally

Adventure

Hassan has been passionate about adventure, sport, and exploration since he was 8 years old after he saw an article at school about the exploits of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Although, growing up his first love was tennis after his grandmother took him for his first tennis lesson. He continued to play sports throughout school, being on the athletics, football, swimming, badminton, and squash teams. He went on to captain the tennis team both at high school and then subsequently at University.

At 25, he set his sights on joining the ‘7 Continents Marathon Club’—a formal organization that recognizes the achievement of running marathons on each of the world’s seven continents, including Antarctica. He has achieved this by running some of the hardest marathons in the world: one amongst wild animals in the African savannah, one at high altitude on the Inca Trail in South America, and one in freezing temperatures near the South Pole in Antarctica. On December 13th, 2018, at the age of 27, he joined an exclusive group of roughly 300 people in the world to accomplish this and further became the first in his country to have done so, receiving an award from the President of the Country.

During his training for the marathons, he also did an Ironman; a 4km ocean swim, a 180km bike ride, and a full marathon done back-to-back with time cut-offs for each category respectively, and an overall time cut-off for the combined trio. Since 2021, Hassan has concentrated on ascending Mount Everest in Nepal as part of his pursuit of the adventurer’s grand slam, aiming to conquer the highest peaks on all seven continents and ski the last degree of latitude to the North and South Poles. Having already summited Mount Kosciuszko in Australia and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, he steadily advances towards this ambitious goal. He is passionate about the world around him and has been fortunate to travel to nearly 100 countries.

Throughout his adventures, he has met incredible people who have changed the way he sees the world. He has learned many new things that he’d love to share with others, such as the importance of kindness and compassion. He has discovered that most people want the same things: to be happy, and healthy, and to provide a good life for themselves and their families.
