Saskia was diagnosed with coeliac disease aged 17 and thought her career as an elite athlete was over. She has worked hard to manage the illness and would like to inspire others with life changing illnesses. Saskia is currently aiming to compete at Paris 2024.

In 2018 Saskia graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Economic Geography. Her dissertation was about sustainability in elite sport, centred around single use plastic usage of elite sailors. She is very passionate about the environment and sustainability which had led to some powerful partnerships. In 2021 Saskia joined the Childs Farm and Farmologie family becoming their Sustainability Ambassador supporting their sustainable initiatives. With her commitment to reducing single use plastic Saskia is also a proud ambassador for the Big Plastic Pledge.
