Saskia Sills is a British windsurfer and member of the British Sailing Team.
She was very successful at youth level (4x youth world champion and BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year Nominee). After graduating from Bournemouth University in 2018 Saskia put all her focus into windsailing, going on to achieve a Silver Medal at the World Cup Finale in 2019 and the award for British Sailing Breakthrough Performance 2019. Most recently she came 1st in the IQ Foil Open Regatta in Cornwall 2021 and won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Championships.
Saskia was diagnosed with coeliac disease aged 17 and thought her career as an elite athlete was over. She has worked hard to manage the illness and would like to inspire others with life changing illnesses. Saskia is currently aiming to compete at Paris 2024.
In 2018 Saskia graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Economic Geography. Her dissertation was about sustainability in elite sport, centred around single use plastic usage of elite sailors. She is very passionate about the environment and sustainability which had led to some powerful partnerships. In 2021 Saskia joined the Childs Farm and Farmologie family becoming their Sustainability Ambassador supporting their sustainable initiatives. With her commitment to reducing single use plastic Saskia is also a proud ambassador for the Big Plastic Pledge.
