Alex Waller

Rugby Union

I spent 16 incredible years as a professional rugby player with Northampton Saints — a club that became home and shaped a huge part of who I am. I was lucky enough to captain the team for three seasons and be part of some unforgettable moments, including two Premiership titles, a European Championship, and three Anglo-Welsh Cups. I also had the honour of touring New Zealand with England, being part of the EPS squad, playing for England A, and running out for the Barbarians.

Along the way I picked up a few records I’m proud of, most capped front-row forward in Premiership history, most appearances for Saints, most consecutive Premiership games, and one of the top five most capped players in the league.

Off the pitch, I got involved in the bigger picture too. I was a board member of the Rugby Players Association and led player representation at Saints for a few years. I’ve always cared about the future of the game and supporting the players within it.

As I got towards the end of my playing career, I started laying the foundations for what came next. Since hanging up my boots, I’ve been building a second career that reflects the same values I brought to rugby; graft, honesty, teamwork, and doing things the right way.

I’m now a Director at AEW Investments, managing property development and rental projects, and a Director at 3B Rum, where we produce small-batch rum with a big focus on quality and process. I also co-own Waller and Wood Woodworks, a bespoke furniture business I helped grow from scratch, working across design, logistics, and brand development. We’ve just moved into our first commercial space and are excited about where it’s heading.

I also work as an introducer and ambassador in the finance and insurance space, teaming up with Curo Wealth, Latitude Finance, and the Specialist Risk Group to support a range of clients from high-net-worth individuals to fellow athletes. And on a more personal note, I’m proud to be an ambassador for Niamh’s Next Step, a brilliant charity fighting neuroblastoma, something really close to my heart.

Life after rugby has been full on, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m keen to share my journey — the highs, the lessons, and everything in between — whether it’s one-to-one, on panels, or at events.
