Angharad James-Turner (30 yo) known as ‘Haz’ is the current Captain of the Wales Women’s National football team. She has over 100 caps for her country – the youngest ever to reach that landmark.
And she is the first ever female player to lead a Wales team to successful qualification for a major European tournament – the 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship. Wales have been drawn in Group D against Netherlands, France and England – who they will play on July 13th.
As a schoolgirl she moved from her home town of Narberth in Pembrokeshire, Wales to London to begin her career with Arsenal. Her career has seen her play on both sides of the Atlantic.
Having previously represented WSL clubs such as Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham, along with the NWSL teams Orlando Pride and North Carolina Courage. She currently resides in Seattle, Washington on the Northwest Coast of the United States. She’s been with Seattle Reign since the start of the 2024 season.
Haz was named Wales Women’s Player of the Year in 2017, having twice been named Wales Young Player of the Year in 2013, 2014, and a fluent Welsh Speaker she regularly appears on Welsh Language television as a pundit during the Wales Men’s internationals. She’s also made numerous appearances on Sky Sports.
In December 2020, Haz announced her engagement to fellow professional footballer Amy Turner. They married in June 2023 and she began wearing James-Turner on her shirt for the Seattle Reign. The two also run a coffee shack based in the charming Hertfordshire village of Bragging called, Two Sides Grind.
She has also been capped internationally for Wales in Cricket where she represented her nation at U15’s level. She’s the daughter of Narberth Rugby legend Clive James, who played for and was later head coach of the Otters.
She splits her time between the US and UK, where she lives with her wife Amy and dog Betsy.
