Mountaineering
Frankie McMillan is only nine years old, but this promising new talent is already making a name for himself internationally thanks to his record-breaking mountain climbing.
Frankie was the youngest Briton to summit Mount Olympus (The Mountain of the Gods) and Toubkal (the highest mountain ridge in northern Africa). He is busy bagging the highest summits in Europe, collecting nine peaks in the ‘Crown of Europe’ in just the last year. He is also one of only a tiny handful of children ever to reach Everest Base Camp, conquering the two-week hike entirely under his own steam at the age of just eight.
Frankie has also scaled all 214 Wainwright fells in Lakeland TWICE, including numerous trips up England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike.
He has won several prestigious community and charity awards, was the youngest monthly columnist in a popular hiking magazine, and has even shared the stage with TV adventurer Ben Fogle at a national expo.
Of course, all this happens on weekends and school holidays, because academically Frankie is also scaling great heights – exceeding in many subjects and smashing his grades!
Frankie is only small but he packs a big punch of inspiration. His huge passion for getting moving and being outdoors is all about doing what makes you feel good and chasing dreams – a powerful combination for physical and mental wellbeing.
