Gail Emms MBE is an icon of British sporting success, with a string of gold, silver and bronze medals achieved in a huge array of international competitions and Olympic Games.
As a former world champion and having won a silver medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games with mixed badminton doubles partner Nathan Robertson, Gail Emms MBE has now retired and can look back on a career that saw her reach the very top of her sport, taking on new and exciting projects.
As one of Britain’s inspiring Olympians, Gail Emms MBE represents the very best of the nation’s sporting offering. She began playing badminton from the age of four and she has shaped her career around the sport representing her country for the first time in 1995. She consistently achieved results that saw her reach the top of the world rankings.
Inspired by her family’s love of sport, (her mother Janice represented England in the 1971 Women’s World Cup in football), Gail was always destined for a glittering career.
Now retired from professional competition, she has turned her attentions to sharing the hugely positive impact that sport can have on life and well-being. With over sixteen years as the founder of Gail Emms Consultancy, she has specialised in motivational speaking and team-building workshops, helping individuals and organisations enhance confidence and self-belief.
This work aligns with a passion for enabling people to become the best version of themselves through tailored solutions in sport, business, and media. This includes ‘Power of Presence’ – a personal presentation training programme she has created to help individuals feel more confident with public speaking and presenting.
She is also an ADHD Executive coach, specialising in working with adults diagnosed with ADHD, to help them in the workplace.
In February 2026 she launched GE Padel Events, which creates bespoke corporate padel experiences that connect businesses through sport, hospitality, and shared experience. Designed for client engagement, partner reward, and premium networking, the events bring together high-quality padel, relaxed competition, and meaningful relationship-building in standout venues across the UK.
From corporate tournaments and Pro-Am exhibition days to coaching-led experiences, GE Padel Events delivers memorable, high-energy events that strengthen relationships, generate new opportunities, and elevate brands through one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.
Gail is a 2 times published author, ‘The Lost Lionesses’ – the story of her mother and other girls playing in Mexico ’71 against the wishes of FIFA and the FA, and ‘Grit and Goose Feathers’ – her autobiography.
