Gelje Sherpa is the world-renowned high altitude rescuer with more than 40 rescues under his belt and over 35 x 8000m peak summits.

He is the top sherpa guide in the world.

Gelje was born and raised in the Everest region, Solukhumbu, with his family up until the age of 11. His humble upbringing is reflected in his nature. He prides his culture, background and family in everything he does.

He began his career as an Icefall Doctor (rope fixers, route makers and Ladder fixers on Everest) renowned for being the world’s most dangerous job requiring huge levels of skill and motivation. After 5 years Gelje was recruited as a guide on 8000m peaks with Seven Summit Treks.

During this time Nimsdai Purja (world record holder, 14 peaks documentary) saw something special in Gelje and recruited him to be part of the Project Possible Team, a group of 5 Sherpa with the highest notability in the climbing world.

Gelje summited 9 X 8000ers with Nimsdai and is now featured in his incredibly successful documentary 14 peaks.

Now Gelje has summited all 14 of the 8000m peaks, many multiple times.

In completing this he became the youngest person ever to Summit all 14 8000m peaks and put Nepal in the limelight as having the world’s best climbers.
