Leanna Carriere

Adventure

Leanna Carriere, a fearless adventurer from Edmonton, Alberta, made history as Canada’s first female decathlete in 2015, earning her a
Global Edmonton Women of Vision award.

With over two decades as a personal trainer, she’s passionate about physical development and human psychology. Leanna’s love for endurance sports led her to co-found 7 Summits Snacks, advocating for a healthy planet through her athletic endeavours.

The ‘Flyway Heroes’ expedition series aims to raise awareness of the global biodiversity and extinction crises. Since 1970, humans have wiped out 70% of wildlife populations, including billions of birds, with one in eight bird species at risk of extinction. This project highlights the inseparable connections between migratory birds and human well-being, using storytelling and education to inspire protection and restoration of 30% of planetary land and water by 2030.

In June 2025, the ‘Wings of Survival’ expedition will begin, a 30,000 km journey by cycle and packrafting from Alaska to Patagonia, mirroring the journeys of migratory birds. This expedition will showcase birds as indicators of the planet’s health, emphasizing the need to protect bird habitats to safeguard life on Earth. The Wings of Survival will be documented by the renowned film producer Justin Brunelle
