Boxing
Savannah Marshall is a British professional boxer, former world champion in the super-middleweight division, and mixed martial artist, known by her nickname “The Silent Assassin.”
Born and raised in Hartlepool, Savannah discovered boxing at 12 when she joined the local Hartlepool Headland club. Known by most as Hartlepool Headland boys club, there were unsurprisingly not a lot of female boxers at the club. However, after a childhood of sparring with boys and showing she had what it took, Savannah initiated change…starting with the sign above the door.
She rose to prominence as an amateur, becoming the first British female to win World Championship gold in 2012 and a two-time Olympian.
As a professional, she held the WBO middleweight title and became an undisputed super-middleweight champion in 2023, defending her titles in front of a record crowd.
Marshall has also recently begun a career in professional mixed martial arts.
