UK Veterans make history as first international team to compete in the Veteran Games
10 VETERANS. 200 YEARS OF SERVICE. ONE TEAM.
With an average age of 47 and almost 200 years of collective military service between them, The Veterans Can… Warriors team embodies the spirit behind Veterans Can… and its mission to connect the global Veteran community to bring balance, pride and positivity.
The Veteran Games are about much more than competition. They are deliberately proactive, creating opportunities for Veterans to connect, build community and celebrate what it means to have served. Through teamwork, challenge and shared experience, the Games create purpose, belonging and positivity – focusing on what Veterans can do, rather than what they have left behind, while also providing a platform to combat mental health challenges before they might take hold.
That philosophy was brought to life this summer at the inaugural Veteran Games UK, delivered by Veterans Can… as part of its Veterans Can… Festival at Pippingford Park in East Sussex. It created the first UK platform for Veterans to experience the Games and established the foundations for an ongoing international partnership with Veteran Games Australia.
Now, The Veterans Can… Warriors team takes that connection across the world.
The trip to Australia will strengthen the growing relationship between the UK and Australian Veteran communities, while celebrating the achievements, experiences and contribution of Veterans from both nations. It will also help build towards the next Veteran Games UK in July 2027, where Veterans Can… will once again bring Veterans together through Connection, Community and Celebration.
